Fundraising

Here are some handy tips and advice about how to run a fundraising event. If you have any questions, or you need some help with your event, just get in touch.

If you are thinking of fundraising, we've put a special pack of information here on the site to get you going.

Whether you’re planning a one-off event, a sporting challenge or a whole series of events the most important thing is that you ENJOY it. And that definitely means keeping safe.

Choosing what to do...

This is completely up to you. Pick something you enjoy, a sport, a challenge or just a good time.

Preparation...

Events don’t just happen. They need planning. The bigger the event, or the more difficult the challenge, the more planning you will need to do. Don’t try to take on something that you don’t have time to plan properly. Use our event planner to help.

Advertisting

You’ve come up with something fun to do. You’ve planned it for weeks. Now you need to let people know what you’re doing. Use Facebook, Twitter, posters and if you can, speak to local newspapers. Use the poster in the downloads section to help advertise your event.

Facebook and Twitter

This is a great way to let people know what you are up to. If it’s a really big challenge, you can set up a blog to let people know more about how it’s going. People also like watching short videos.

Online donations

You want to raise as much as you can. Set yourself a target and try to beat it. So that you can track how much you’ve raised use the BTmydonate online service (there's a button at the top of this page). The money is sent directly to us at the end of your event, so it takes the hassle away from you.

Charity buckets...

If you would like charity buckets or donation tins, then let us know through the web enquiry form. You’ll need to send us a cheque, or transfer the money directly to us after your event for the money you’ve raised. Use the Money Return form in the downloads section so you can let us know how your event did.

Sponsorship Form

We’ve provided a form in the downloads section for you to get sponsors. Classmates, work mates, family and friends they will all support you.

After The Event

Let people know how you did by posting on Facebook, Twitter and updating the posters. Don’t forget to say THANK YOU!

Gift Aid It!

If your sponsors are UK tax payers, we can claim the tax portion back from HMRC. Hurrah! We need to know their UK address, so please post back the sponsorship form if they didn't donate online. When they donate online, it automatically allows for Gift Aid if they are eligible.
